»Hello Tucson, AZ. January 29 in 23«
There was a lot of anticipation about Tucson because I hadn't been there before. The downside of our relatively spontaneous trip was that I barely had half a day.
So I had no big plan at all, regarding photography over there - but well, if you have only 3-4 hours, in the end anyway wins the spontaneity and intuition. Which on that is pretty often the best, at the end of a cool day.
As I went direction downtown I walked around for almost an hour, to get kind-of an overview to then check & search for specific spots to stay and wait for the right moment. The light was great from the first moment on, surprisingly even in the middle of the afternoon.
I didn't think the sun was actually a bit lower in Tucson than it is here in Phoenix, which of course offered really nice lighting conditions and a play of shadows and sun. Those things you are mostly looking for, to capture interesting contrast in certain sceneries.
And because I luckily had a delicious Roastbeef Sandwich and cold drinks in my backpack, I could sit relaxed and wait. The best things in life are for free.
Tucson, the little sister of Phoenix , is definitely worth a trip. Downtown offers nice spots. Just as in Phoenix, there is a pleasant variety of old and new.
I'll definitely be back, asap.
Thank you, Tucson, AZ.
