»Why I love Phoenix Part I: Fitness«

I’ve been thinking about blogging occasionally other things besides photography. This and that - depending on what spontaneously pops into my head. Presumably it will relate to my life here, in appropriately different facets. That's why:

Phoenix is certainly one of those places in the world that is ideal for spending many, many hours (actively) outside. This absolutely suits me, I'm an outdoorsy type.

I've taken an estimated 98% of my photos outside. I love the nature - and in terms of photography, especially the natural light. It’s the timing of catching the most beautiful moment of the day.

The problem here in the region, however, and this needs to be made clear, is that from early June to mid-September, you have very few opportunities to be active outside for an extended period of time: because the climate just doesn't allow it.

The temperatures here this year, I have not experienced anywhere else like this. At 42, 44 ... up to 47° Celsius, it is simply not possible to move away from an air conditioner or to be active in sports. Of course, I can only speak for myself, representing my feelings. People who live and grew up here are relatively relaxed about the heat. Check.

Anyway - it’s feeling better and better with every new day. The days are getting shorter, the nights longer. This starts at 6:30 in the morning with coffee in the garden - and can be made really pleasant until noon.

So I ride my bike after the coffee, afterwards I jump into the pool for some refreshing lanes - to lie down on the yoga mattress for 30 or 45 minutes afterwards. It's pretty comfortable now, and I'm just guessing what's possible then as we head towards October - when weather-wise the best months come around.

And if, contrary to expectations, problems with motivation arise, I'm armed and got myself a new SmartWatch. My Apple Watch went back, on the one hand I had a bad feeling when swimming and what bothered me visibly was the daily / nightly charging.

The T-Rex Pro I have now only two days, but am really satisfied. It will give me the kick in the butt should the need ever arise.

Let’s go!
